All employees, regardless of length of service, who suffer the loss of a child under the age of 18, including parents who suffer a stillbirth after 24 weeks of pregnancy may take parental bereavement leave. Leave may be taken by those with parental responsibility for a child, including parents, the partner of the child’s parent and adoptive parents, but also others, as defined in law, who have a parental-style relationship with a child.  If you are unsure if someone is entitled to parental bereavement leave, please refer to your HR provider for further advice.
