The Schools' Choice HR Team continues to carry out a check as part the new starter process to see whether a newly appointed teacher is the subject of a Prohibition Order and will immediately alert the school if a Prohibition Order is in place. LMS letter 2014/21 and Academy FAQ 101 set out the background to these checks, which are not a new requirement, but are similar to prohibition orders that were imposed by the General Teaching Council for England prior to April 2012.

The latest OFSTED briefing for Section 5 inspections now specifically includes reference to prohibition orders for teachers as part of the school's single central record at Annex 2, page 17.
